Many people come to me when life feels heavy, when managing alone – or even with the support of others – no longer feels enough, and when familiar coping strategies start to lose their footing. Therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect, and make sense of what you are experiencing, whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or simply aware that something needs to change. You may come with a particular difficulty you would like to explore, or you may not be quite sure where to begin.

Together, we can gently explore your experiences, thoughts, feelings and patterns with openness and compassion, without judgement. I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for you, creating a supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and able to develop a deeper understanding of yourself.

Over the years, I’ve successfully worked with individuals navigating a wide range of challenges, including: living with a more general sense of feeling stuck/overwhelmed/or unsure, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, bereavement, relationship difficulties, neurodivergent-related challenges, and the lasting effects of trauma – both recent and rooted in the past. Within this, I have experience supporting people with low self-esteem, self-harm, disordered eating, abuse and complex and intergenerational trauma. My work supports helping you to cope, understand, building emotional resilience and moving towards a life that feels more stable, connected and fulfilling.

For many people, thinking about starting counselling can feel daunting or uncertain.  Please know that you will be met with care and understanding, and you don’t need to have the right words or a clear starting point – just a sense that you’d like to begin.

How counselling can help

Counselling offers a calm, reflective space to explore what may be feeling difficult, confusing, or overwhelming. It can help you slow down, make sense of your experiences, and begin to understand the patterns that shape how you feel and relate to others. For some people, counselling becomes a place to explore deeper themes over time; for others, it is a supportive space to work through a current problem or challenge. Both are welcome, and both can be meaningful.

Counselling can be a place to begin — wherever you are, and however things feel.

How long might it take

There’s no fixed timeline because each person’s journey is unique. Some clients come for a handful of sessions to work through a specific issue, while others choose to stay longer to explore deeper patterns and experiences. Psychodynamic counselling tends to be a slower, more reflective process, it’s about building insight and understanding over time, rather than offering quick fixes. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and we’ll regularly check in together to make sure the work is supporting your needs.

Open-ended counselling

Open-ended counselling gives you the time and space to explore whatever feels important, without the pressure of a fixed endpoint. It allows us to go deeper into patterns, relationships, and experiences that may take time to unfold and understand. This kind of work can be especially helpful if you’re looking for lasting change or want to explore your inner world more fully. We’ll move at your pace, and the process will evolve naturally as we build trust and insight together. It’s not always easy to know from the start how long you might want or need counselling. When things feel uncertain, ongoing counselling can offer the flexibility and space to explore what’s coming up for you over time.

Time-limited counselling

Time-limited counselling offers a focused way of working together over a set number of sessions. I often work using a 12-session model of time-limited work, but this depends upon your circumstance. Time-limited counselling can be helpful if you’re looking to explore a specific issue, navigate a life transition, or gain clarity in a particular area. Having a defined timeframe can bring a sense of structure and purpose to the work, while still allowing space for reflection and emotional depth. We’ll agree together on the number of sessions at the start, and I’ll support you throughout so that the process feels contained, meaningful, and supportive from beginning to end.
